Brady stole Bubby!

Little Baby J (a.k.a. Bubby) could be the stunt double for Benjamin Brady Bundchen (at least from behind)…

It is quite uncanny how much BB looks like Baby J – the hair color, shape of head, skin coloring, little bowed legs, etc…

I am sure Baby J could dominate BB right now, since he is a few months older and bigger, but probably he won’t ever be bigger than BB again – Boom and I aren’t pro-athlete and supermodel tall – close, but just not quite.

Our international super spy, Alejandro, got his first assignment to create an undercover disguise…

I can’t even recognize him with his avocado mustache!

And he is growing big and strong – now when I have him the the Baby Bjorn, his head is jammed under mine – getting so tall!  ~ 27 inches!

Mom just left yesterday after spending nearly a week down here visiting.  Yarb’s surprise bday party was on Saturday (went off without a hitch!) – yay!  and whew!  So many cute photos from that night, but one that I really LOVE from the morning after – Mother’s Day…

How adorable?!  I really don’t think there could be a cuter photo of Mom and JJ, esp. on Mother’s Day!

I hope all moms out there, especially new moms, had a great mothers day.  I know I did – got to have breakfast with my parents, Yarbs and Joe and of course Little J and Boom.  Then spent the rest of the day just lazing around – didn’t even change out of my bed clothes (made it very easy when it was time for bed at night)!  I literally never do that, so it was quite a treat (and I was exhausted from 2 nights of nearly no sleep and the party).

JJ wrote me quite a beautiful letter – I am amazed at what a large vocabulary he has at just 5 months – what a genius!  Of course, I didn’t need the letter or anything else, as I already have my perfect gift… my awesome son and hubby!

Yee Haw!

On Sunday, we took Baby J to the Houston Zoo! Oh, he had a great time (when he wasn’t sleeping).  Good think Boom is such a good wild boar rider!

I was amazed at how crowded it was – but I guess most everything on the weekends will be crowded in a big city like H-town.  All the people from the ‘burbs come into town 🙂  and the weather was beautiful (hot, but not too too hot, and not really humid at all), so I am sure that encouraged people to get out and about, while they can.

So many adventures to be had… I love it now and look forward to all the fun times in the future!

Um, me…

Yay!  I am using my new baby food maker for the first time today!

Baby J has been eating organic whole grain rice cereal for nearly two weeks now, so I think he is ready to try some sweet potatoes!

I have some mommy friends who feed their babies organic baby food from a jar.  Which is much better than the old pesticide filled baby food.  and they can see that the only ingredients are, say, carrots and water.  My argument for making ones own baby food (if one has the desire and time) is that if I wanted a carrot, I wouldn’t open up a can of carrots for myself.  I’d peel a carrot and eat it.  So for Baby J, I fee the same way.  Fresher is always better.  Just like you wouldn’t give your family frozen meals every night because it is convenient.

And yes, the Babycook is a little expensive, up front.  But I hear those little jars of organic baby food aren’t cheap either.  So I bet it evens out, and maybe even becomes cheaper to make your own baby food.  Lucky me, some of my friends in VA bought the Babycook for me as a shower gift.

Before I could use my Babycook this morning, I had to deal with Baby J’s diapers.  Meaning, pre-cleaning them (me) and then washing them (washing machine).   I then came to the realization that I am becoming that mom.  Hopefully I am not too annoying or preachy… and I guess my thought on it is that right now my “job” is to be the best mom to Baby J that I can.  So, since I do have the time and inclination, I will do anything and everything in my power to make sure he is the healthiest, happiest baby he can be!

Happy / Sad

This one makes me so happy:

And he seems to be a pretty happy little guy, so I am assuming Boom and I are doing something right.

I just finished this book for bookclub (in only 2 days!):

Little Bee – it is good.  Made me cry.  and think… because we (members of “developed” countries) demand so much energy, countries rich in oil / gas (ie natural resources) nearly have no hope.  A few in power will kill and slaughter for the all mighty buck.  Makes me sad that there is basically no hope for Africa.  Not when the government will kill and slaughter their own people.

Sometimes I think we should just sell all of our stuff and move somewhere where we could have a simpler life.  But I don’t think it is that easy.
